Le BaiserRead statement
The Kiss by Brancusi was my inspiration for this work. My intention was to capture the fleeting moment when the essence blends with the physical presence. It’s an archetype of love made out of two wooden beams, excavated from the ruins of an abandoned house, brought together by leaning toward each other without any hierarchy of importance and embracing eternally.
Part of the experience of my work is thinking about the intricate character of human relationships, and how we relate to the world, to history and of course to our emotional memory.
“What is real is not the exterior but the idea, the essence of things.” Constantine Brancusi.
